At native values, a sensitivity range from ISO 100-51200 permits working in a broad array of lighting conditions, and can be further expanded up to ISO 204800 for extreme low-light conditions. The DX-format 20.9MP CMOS sensor is paired with the EXPEED 6 image processor to provide a versatile mixture of high sensitivity, nuanced image quality, and fast overall performance. ![]() ![]() 20.9MP DX-Format CMOS Sensor and EXPEED 6 Image Processor Additionally, for easy sharing, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work in conjunction with the Nikon SnapBridge app for wirelessly transferring photos and videos and remotely controlling the camera from your mobile device. The magnesium alloy body is weather-sealed, too, to suit working in inclement conditions. A high-resolution 2.36m-dot OLED EVF benefits working in bright conditions with clear eye-level viewing and the 3.2" rear touchscreen LCD has a 180° flip-down design that is perfect for selfies. The body design is impressively sleek yet still ergonomic to benefit all-day-long shooting. For fine-tuning your photos and videos, in-camera clip trimming can be used, and 20 Creative Picture Controls and 10 Special Effects settings help to infuse your imagery with a unique look. For video shooters, UHD 4K is supported up to 30 fps along with Full HD recording at up to 120 fps for slow-motion playback. Capable in both stills and video realms, the Z 50 features a 20.9MP CMOS sensor and EXPEED 6 image processor, which enables fast performance up to 11 fps, a reliable 209-point hybrid AF system with eye detection, and notable low-light performance to ISO 51200. Seems like a perfect tele zoom for a Z50 lightweight kit.Sporting an especially sleek design, the Nikon Z 50 is a DX-format mirrorless digital camera revolving around the versatile Z Mount. Only negative is the plastic mount on the 50-250 (which feels cheap). Also only for DX - not FX, so can't be used on the Z6/ 7. Wider zoom range - though 250 rather than 300 on long end. This Z lens is very impressive for what it is. I have actually never seen that effect - usually you might see onion rings in the OOF highlight spots or other symmetrical artifacts. I think the "swirly" effect is due to a slight shift in camera position between the two shots. On close examination, I can't see any bokeh difference. Sharpness appears quite similar, but hard to get exact and repeatable focus on a subject like this (a flat test pattern would be better). Would be nice to see both lenses on the Z50 (with the adapter) for best comparison. It would be good to see the FX AF-P version next to both of them The Z 50-250 reminds me of my helios 58mm, it has very swirly bokeh. I far prefer the DX AF-P due to the bokeh. The last two shots are with the Nikkor 35mm DX prime lens I shot these in Continuous L setting, 4 fps, I believe on Auto AF, which seemed to pick up focus quickly. Here are some photos of puppy Meadow running full speed. ![]() Not sure how much heavier this lens is when compared to the Z 50mm-250mm lens, but my guess is pretty similar. The camera and lens combo seemed to perform well. Had a chance to take the Z50 out today with the 70mm-300mm AF-P FX lens, and the doggies. Now that I've seen the results y'all are getting, I'm really anxious to get the camera and give it a workout. I ordered the Z50 with 2 lenses plus the FTZ adapter yesterday. Thanks so much to both of you for your responses. Rangel28, looking forward to seeing your latest. Here is a photo of the moon I took a few hours ago and I should be able to post more photos tomorrow. The AF-P lens seems to focus very well with the FTZ adapter on the Z50, and the overall package is not too heavy (AF-P lenses seem pretty light to me). I plan to go out with the Z50 and 70mm-300mm AF-P (FX) lens tomorrow, with the two dogs, to see how it does with fast moving subjects (one dog is a very fast puppy). Were they taken using Continuous Low or High? The heron CU also had a Keiko 1.4x teleconverter in the mix.ĭavid, great shots of BIF. ![]() These were taken on a Z 50 with the 70–300 mm AFP DX mounted on the FTZ. I would do anything for another bluesman. You didn’t ask me for a sample, but here are a couple anyway. ![]()
